So we managed to make our way back to civilization and I saw the email from the Munnar resort giving me back the refund since it Munnar was effectively closed.
After some pondering we decided on Kanyakumari and Rameshwaram, since our stomachs had already started grumbling we decided to have lunch in Theni and then head towards Madurai and depending on hotel availability we would deviate towards either Kanyakumari or Rameshwaram.
We got the requisite bookings at Kanyakumari so we headed there, the rains seemed to follow us all the way to the southern tip of India, this is how it looked from our hotel window

Thankfully the next day thing were a lot better and we managed to visit Vivekananda Memorial and got to witness a beautiful sunset
Vivekananda Memorial

Wife managed to squeeze in sometime to shop and I was in search of something I bought for my mother and grandmother the last time I was here, that was around 20 years back.A tray and a hair clip, I didn’t get the exact same things I bought two decades back although they are still at home, I did get somthing similar for my folks to get a sense of deja vu when I gave it them!
And a visit to our beach towards the later part of the day

Fire in the sky

As usual the next day after breakfast we checked out and headed to our next destination- Rameshwaram. The bookings had been made to the newly opened Hyatt there and boy did we love the place.
Some snaps of the hotel

A special mention of the food in Hyatt, it was just amazing and the sambar they served was just perfect. Yeah, I know you must be thinking of all things sambar, I am some one who lived almost all his life in Tamil Nadu – getting sambar just right is not that easy!
Temple visit done we settled down for what else but another splendid meal, the desert vanilla and sizzling brownie was just absolutely amazing, I really don’t know still how it just disappeared.
We were up early the next morning, we wanted to get to watch the sunrise from Dhanushkodi a stones throw away from Sri Lanka.
I seem to have fallen in love with this place. Watch the drive here

The beast wants to play in the sand!

Places like this makes you go………

A beast, a boat and a beach!

After spending a couple of hours there we headed back to the hotel, cleaned up and checked out, this fellow seemed to be keeping a close watch on us as we crossed the pamban bridge

Looking right at me!

Before he decided to finally zoom off into the distance

The rest of the ride back home was uneventful and that wrapped up a 1955 km trip which surprisingly turned out to be quite a good one!
