Remembering our heroes

The wind was wild, the weather was wet
The eyes were set, the mind needed rest
The heart knew best, it always does
Peace it shall be,when mother is safe
The mission was set, the odds were bad
Fear was close, Courage was closer
Darkness was a but a good friend
The peaks were ahead, the challenge vast
The Mind did not falter, the climb went ahead
Death wizzed past, some missed and some hit
But I did not falter, the mission was set
The Body was red, mind was crying
The heart was filled with joy, mother was safe
As eternal darkness took me into her embrace
A flash of my family safe gave me a smiling embrace
By droves they came, the land I protected
Listened with awe, shed a tear
With Pride my heart filed, but forgot they did
It matters not, for my bond is eternal
I shall always be there to guide thy!!!
